Well, ahead of their planned appearance at E3 later this year, Bethesda Softworks have announced an all new standalone entry into the recently rebooted and well received, first person shooter Wolfenstein franchise. Titled Wolfenstein : The Old Blood, this stand alone game serves as a prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order which successfully relaunched the series in May of last year.

Jerk Gustafssonexecutive producer at MachineGames, has said “Diving back into the world of Wolfenstein has really been fun for us. We’ve enjoyed exploring the events leading up to The New Order. We think fans will really enjoy the story, all the action and, of course, jumping back into the combat with new weapons.”

Set in the year 1946 with the Nazi’s winning the second world war, the game spans a two part campaign that will see players take control of BJ Blazkowicz as he breaks into the iconic Castle Wolfenstein and further beyond. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is slated to launch on May 5th of this year and will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC for a discounted price of $19.99.
