Blizzard Entertainment has announced that WoW Tokens for its insanely popular MMORPG World of Warcraft will be available from today onwards. A brief maintenance period will be conducted after which they will go live at 10 AM PT.

Tokens are WoW’s way of allowing players to earn subscription time in-game. You can buy ten in a 30 day period and prices for the same will fluctuate at the auction house according to demand (with the starting price at 30,000 gold). Players can also purchase Tokens for $20 and see them in-game to obtain gold.

Tokens will only be available in North America, Australia, Latin America and New Zealand from today onwards. Other territories will have to wait for more information in the coming weeks. Time will tell how Tokens will pan out for Blizzard’s in-game economy but at the very least, it provides a way for players to earn game time while playing the game. Thoughts on this?
