Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Clarifies Statement On First Party Games Coming To Other Systems

Okay, so there was a misinterpretation.

Posted By | On 07th, Nov. 2017

Earlier today, the story broke out that Xbox boss Phil Spencer was looking at bringing Xbox franchise games to other systems at some point, including, yes, the PS4. This led to a flurry of speculation about exactly what Microsoft’s future in the console hardware market may be, and led me personally to wonder why he would say such a thing on the eve of the launch of the Xbox One X.

Speaking on Twitter, however, he has clarified what he meant, and put out the fires before they spread too much- there has been some misinterpretation regarding what he meant, it seems, and he has explicitly stated that beyond Minecraft, Microsoft currently has no plans to bring its games to other hardware.

The wording leaves no doubt that right now, Xbox remains the only place to play Halo, Gears, or Forza on consoles. Maybe that changes in the future at some point- but for now, this is how things are.
