Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass pages on Twitter recently uploaded new logos that featured only the words “Game Pass” along with the Xbox icon, with the “Xbox” seemingly having been dropped. We reported on the same, believing that it may have suggested a change in the service’s branding to the same effect. It turns out that wasn’t the case after all.

The Xbox Game Pass recently uploaded a new tweet, clarifying that the service is still called Xbox Game Pass, in spite of the logo having been changed, and that the Xbox logo in the Game Pass branding is serving the same function as having the word “Xbox” in there. Additionally, Microsoft also provided a statement to VGC, stating that though the service’s logo has changed, its name and branding remain the same.

“Xbox recently revealed a redesigned logo for Xbox Game Pass. While the logo is new, there have been no changes to the name of the service, it remains Xbox Game Pass,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.

Xbox Game Pass is available on Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices, and will be available for Xbox Series X later this year. This September, xCloud will also be joining the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate package. Read more on that through here.
