Gameplay capture and sharing is the one area where Xbox consoles have been consistently lagging behind the competition, and though Microsoft has said on a number of occasions that it’s aware of those deficiencies and is looking to make improvements, those improvements have been few and far between. On the contrary, Microsoft has made some changes that won’t be popular with everyone.

As reported by Windows Central, in a recent Xbox Insider update today, Microsoft removed the ability for users to share Xbox Game DVR clips on Twitter directly from Xbox consoles. This means any gameplay you have captured can’t be shared on Twitter directly, and will now have to be uploaded to your phone via “mobile sharing” and then shared on Twitter from there.

Microsoft hasn’t yet made any official statement on why this change has been made, and it’s currently unclear whether any replacement features are lined up. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated on any new details that come our way.
