For a long time now, there’s been rumors of a second next generation console coming from Microsoft, something that was slightly less powerful than the Xbox Series X, perhaps all digital, and cheaper. Rumors have bopped back and forth about whether or not Microsoft is still planning the hardware, but a lot of smoke keeps coming up about this “Lockhart” system, and now we have some more.

Apparently, as revealed by TitleOS on Twitter, in the latest release notes for the Microsoft Game Development Kit we once again see reference to the Lockhart for a profiling mode. TitleOS also dug up references to the Lockhart in the most recent Windows OS update as well.

The latest rumor about the Lockhart was that it was planned to be unveiled at some point this month, but was moved to a later as of now undetermined date. The PS5 had an all digital version as well that are also expecting to be a little cheaper than the regular system with the disc drive. The Lockhart, if rumors are true, would be a bit more ambitious than that though in a similar vain, so the wait is still on for when it could be revealed.
