Xbox Studios head, Phil Spencer has teased of a big reveal regarding “Europe’s biggest franchise” at the upcoming Gamescom 2013:

“We took the approach with our showcase that we want to showcase the developers and their games. So we’re going to have a really short stage presentation with some news. [We’ll be] talking about some unique exclusives coming to the platform, [and] we’re going to talk about Europe’s biggest franchise. We have some stuff.”

As Fifa is the biggest selling franchise in Europe year after year, it’s safe to assume that Spencer is referring to the titanous soccer franchise. At the Xbox one reveal, Andrew Wilson of EA spoke to the relationship between EA and Microsoft, categorizing their new relationship as broad and strategic. I can safely be inferred that this relationship will play a huge factor in the upcoming next gen Fifa 14. Very little has been detailed for the next gen versions of Fifa 14. It seems as though EA is playing a coy marketing game.

Gamescom will begin August 21st, and the Microsoft showcase will be the day before the opening.
