The joys of incremental hardware.

One of the big selling points of the Xbox One Scorpio will be its complete and total intercompatibility with the existing Xbox One consoles- this refers not just to software and games, but also, it sounds like, to hardware. Today at Gamescom, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg confirmed that the Xbox One Scorpio will be completely compatible with all existing Xbox One accessories.

This means that any existing Xbox One stuff you may own – controllers, headsets, the Kinect (and, if the Xbox One S is any indication, the Kinect adaptor) – is going to work on the Xbox One Scorpio without any hassle and problems. Ah, the joys of incremental hardware updates!

On the whole, this shouldn’t ever have been something that required any clarification (and I am pretty sure Microsoft had already announced this during their E3 presser when they announced Scorpio), but it’s good to have (another) confirmation regardless.
