We had been told previously that the Xbox One X would be getting support for 1440p resolution soon; now, it looks like not only the Xbox One X, but also the Xbox One S will be getting support for the upgraded resolution- and they will both be getting it shortly, too.
Microsoft’s Xbox Partner Group Program Manager, Kevin Gammill has confirmed that both consoles will be getting support for 1440p resolution- at least for members of the Preview Program. Presumably, it will be rolled out to everyone else shortly afterwards, too.
So, for those of you who use 1440p (or higher resolution than HD) screens, it looks like your Xbox One X and Xbox One S will soon be supporting output in the resolutions natively. As someone who has an Xbox One S, this actually comes as a pleasant surprise to me- I was certainly not expecting this, and it should make video content look sharper and better on my screen.
Many questions recently around the timing of our 1440p support. Those of you in our early preview ring should be pleasantly surprised very soon if you have an Xbox One S or Xbox One X.
