December 2021 was a big month for console sales in the UK, as per data revealed by the Gfk (via GamesIndustry), with a total of 560,000 consoles sold in the region over the course of the month. And while the Nintendo Switch was the highest-selling one of the lot, enjoying a 6% increase over its already-impressive November sales, Xbox also hit a notable landmark.
The Xbox Series X and Series S were collectively the second-highest selling console in the UK in December, enjoying a whopping 108% increase in sales from the previous month, making for the biggest ever month for the duo in the UK, surpassing even what they enjoyed upon launch in November 2020. This means that collectively the two have now sold over a million units in the UK. The PS5, as such, came in third behind its competitors, but still enjoyed a solid month, seeing a 28% increase in sales from November.
Recently, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that the Xbox Series X/S duo continues to outpace the sales of all previous Xbox consoles, with estimates pegging their worldwide shipments to be at 12 million units. Read more on that through here.
