Microsoft has done an admirable job of introducing new updates for Xbox users at a steady clip to improve their overall experience, and their newest update is another nifty one. The update was recently teased, and though it doesn’t introduce cloud-related features like some had speculated, it’s still sure to make fans happy.
The update, which is now available for Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring, has increased the native resolution of the Xbox Series X’s UI and home screen elements. Though Microsoft falls short of saying the exact resolution (it previously rendered at 1080p), the patch notes say that those with 4K screens will be able to enjoy the UI at a higher native resolution.
The patch notes read: “With today’s update, Alpha Insiders on Xbox Series X consoles connected to a 4K display can begin flighting an increased resolution UI. This change means Home, Guide, and other areas of the UI will be displayed in a higher native resolution for increased sharpness and text readability.”
It remains to be seen whether something similar will be added for the Xbox Series S as well, and when exactly this update in particular will become widely available outside of the Insiders program, but it’s certainly a nice surprise. Recently, Microsoft also added a Night Mode feature for all Xbox consoles via the Insiders program, so here’s hoping things continue to improve.
Alpha Skip-Ahead #XboxInsiders can look for a much requested new feature with today's 2109 update (2109.210813-2200) releasing at 2:00 p.m. PT today! Check out the blog linked below for all the info: https://t.co/7zqgD4OWZb
