Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is introducing some neat combat improvements, such as being able to switch between characters during battles.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is arriving earlier than anticipated, and as its launch draws closer, the pace at which Nintendo rolls out new details on the action RPG is beginning to gain momentum. Exciting tidbits on its story, world, characters, and combat have emerged in recent weeks, and Nintendo is continuing to zoom in on those aspects of the experience and provide more information on them.

Recently, for instance, Nintendo’s official Japanese YouTube page uploaded a couple of brief clips of the game (via Nintendo Life), and while they’re both quite short in length at just a few seconds long each, they showcase some of the new features Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will introduce in its combat system.

In addition to being able to freely switch between characters in the middle of combat – a first for the series – another new mechanic will also allow players to quickly re-orient themselves on the battlefield and get in stronger positions for positional attacks. Check out both mechanics in action in the clips below.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3originally due out in September, is now set to launch for the Nintendo Switch on July 29. A Special Edition was also recently revealed for the game- read more on that through here.
