Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Out of nowhere, Nintendo has released Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on the Switch 2. It’s available now on the eShop for $64.99 with a physical version launching on April 16th. Of course, those who own the game on Switch 1 can purchase the Upgrade Pack for the Switch 2 version, though it’ll cost $4.99.

Unlike Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park and Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World, however, there isn’t any additional content. Instead, the Switch 2 version offers frame rates up to 60 FPS and resolutions up to 4K. It’s a sizable jump for the open-world title visually, but that’s it.

On the bright side, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition offers plenty of new additions for those who only played the original. Alongside some post-campaign story content and a new location, there are also two new party members and new tracks. You can check out our review here for more details.

The real question now is whether Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3 will receive the Switch 2 upgrade treatment, especially considering their above-average sales. It wouldn’t be surprising if MonolithSoft has a brand-new title in the works, built specifically for the console, so stay tuned for any official announcement.
