Yakuza Like A Dragon

When the Series Director promised that Yakuza 7 would be a departure for the series, people didn’t quite expect it to be as big of a one as revealed. Going from an old school brawler, beat’em up to a turn-based RPG was a shock to the system for many fans, leading to a lot of polarizing reactions. Well, regardless, the genie is out of the bottle and today via the Tokyo Game Show, we got a new gameplay trailer as well as the western announcement trailer.

First up we get some new gameplay footage. While it’s all in Japanese, you can still enjoy watching the turn-based action if you don’t speak or read the language. It may not be classic Yakuza, but it certainly looks chaotically fun. We also get to see a bit of the silly minigames the franchise is known for, such as the Kart Racing one we heard about earlier.

Then we have the official western announcement trailer that focuses on the game’s story. It’s not dubbed yet, so it’s in Japanese with subtitles and gives you a quick and basic idea of what the game’s plot will be. It also reveals the western logo at the end, which is pretty slick.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon will release in January of 2020 exclusively on PlayStation 4 in Japan. A western release has been officially announced but as now no date has been set.
