When it comes right down to it, change is an inevitability. The Yakuza franchise went through that when Yakuza: Like a Dragon (called Yakuza 7 in Japan) was unveiled. The game took the series in a much different direction than the previous brawler action one in the past. Like all times, change was uncertain, but in the end, it seems to have paid off.

As announced by developer RGG Studios, the game has passed a new milestone, with a total 400,000 units shipped or sold. That’s 100,000 more than what was announced last month. Considering how the game is only currently out in Japan, that’s quite impressive.

It seems the new direction for the Yakuza franchise has pretty solid footing for now, and we also know that DLC is coming for Like a Dragon soon. Hopefully, those of us outside Japan will get our hands on it relatively soon, as it’s slated to release outside the region sometime this year.
