Yoshida – “It will take a few years for the next Gran Turismo game”

Posted By | On 17th, Aug. 2011

Talking about the Japanese developer, Polyphony Digital, Yoshida revealed that it will be a few years before we see GT6, as Kazonuri Yamauchi and his team is currently working on some updates for GT5 and will move on to designing the next project soon.

“As far as the Gran Turismo team’s concerned, they are still working on updating the games, so they’re just shifting to the designing and concepting phase of the next project. It’s going to take a few years.”

People desperately waiting to play Last Guardian this year, might be disappointed as well. Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony World Wide Studios stated in an interview with VG247 that the Last Guardian project isn’t moving as fast as they expected and the team is facing a lot of pressure.

“The Last Guardian team has been making progress. It’s been very difficult in terms of seeing the progress: not as fast as we’d been hoping for, and the team has been under big pressure. But we’re still making progress, so I’d like to continue to support and keep waiting for great news sometime in the future.”

The game was revealed at E3 2009, and impressed a lot of people, however, there is no release date in sight. The current problems mentioned by Yoshida makes it even more tougher to expect it to release this year.

Although, Yoshida reveals that he intends to support the Last Guardian team fully and hopes for some good news in the future.

We feel there won’t be another main line GT title in the PS3’s lifecycle but hey, anything is possible. What do you think about the problems faced by Sony Japan studio and Polyphony Digital? Please tell us in the comments section below.
