Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been scooping up Game of the Year awards left and right. Understandably so because it is an amazing game that’s changed how many of us think about open world titles in general. That being said, even with director Hidemaro Fujibayashi talking about new ideas and motivations, it seems that The Champions’ Ballad, the second expansion for the game, is its finale.

This was confirmed by series producer Eiji Aonuma in an interview with Famitsu. While there may still be some additions to the base game in the future, Breath of the Wild’s development has been wrapped with The Champions’ Ballad.

However, Aonuma also confirmed in an earlier announcement that work had already started on the next Zelda game. We don’t know what platform it will be on or whether it will have the same mechanics as Breath of the Wild. But it’s good news to say the least.
