ZOOCHOSIS 2

Horror game Zoochosis is making its way from PC to consoles. Developer Clapperheads and publisher Playworks have announced that the game will be coming to PS4 and PS5. While a release date hasn’t been confirmed for the console release, there is a new trailer for the announcement that you can check out below.

The short trailer, coming in at less than a minute long, starts things off on a cuter note before getting right into its general horror vibe. The trailer also showcases the bodycam-styled perspective used by Zoochosis, and how it amplifies the horror presented by the game’s infected animals.

In Zoochosis, players step into the shoes of a zookeeper during a night shift. While players will spend plenty of time caring for the various animals as the night zookeeper, things start getting out of hand when some animals exhibit strange behaviour. Ultimately, a parasite has infected several animals, and it’s up to the player to identify the infected animals and develop vaccines to save them before the parasite can spread out of control.

Since there is quite a bit of emphasis on discovering the vaccine to get rid of the parasite, the player making the right decisions in what animals they can save will play a big part in unlocking one of the title’s several endings

Zoochosis was originally released on PC back in September 2024. The horror themes focus on differences between how animals would usually react versus when they have been infected by the parasite.

Since its original PC release, Zoochosis has gotten quite a few updates. A recent one from last month introduced a host of bug fixes, including one of the earlier boss fights. With the update, the studio also introduced what it refers to as Screamer System 2.0.

According to the studio, it was meant for release, but time constraints during development led to delaying it to a post-launch update.

For more details, here are our thoughts about the game from before its release. Also check out our feature about new games that are doing something unique, which also includes Zoochosis.
