Bethesda’s Game of Thrones Listing Was A Fake, Target Confirms

We'll have to wait for the next Skyrim remaster if we want another Bethesda product with icy mountains and dragons.

Yesterday, I got all excited about Bethesda’s Game of Thrones RPG that had been leaked by US retailer Target. After all, a new Game of Thrones game from the makers of Skyrim– what was there not to love about it?

Apparently, the fact that it is not real after all- at least, according to a statement made to Forbes by a Target spokesperson. “This is not a real product – we’re sorry for any confusion,” they said, breaking countless hearts in the process- almost as many as the average episode of Game of Thrones, really.

Given Bethesda’s pedigree at making fantasy RPGs, and the rich world of Game of Thrones, this would truly have been an amazing match- but for now, it doesn’t look like it will be happening. Of course, the possibility always exist that the leak, and therefore the product, is real, and Target is just putting out fires- but I’ll refrain from getting my hopes too high in that regard.
