Capcom’s Deep Down to Release for Xbox One?

Capcom’s recent financial report indicates Deep Down to be in development for “next generation consoles”.

Capcom had revealed its upcoming action RPG Deep Down as far back as the PlayStation 4′s initial reveal. It only recently showcased a real-time gameplay trailer for the same at a Sony presser but is it possible that this futuristic, online-capable RPG may be heading to the Xbox One as well later on?

According to Capcom’s 2013 financial report for the fiscal year ending March 31st 2013, there was a statement where the company talked about “moving forward with the development of new title ‘deep down’ for next-generation consoles, representing the culmination of Capcom technology and our next leap forward”.

It also stated that the company was “currently developing ‘deep down’, which integrates the latest state-of-the-art technology for next-generation non-portable consoles such as the soon-to-be-released PlayStation 4″ and while when mentioning its new Panta Rhei engine, stated that, “The counterpart in collaboration for the ‘Panta Rhei’ game engine is the title ‘deep down’ for next-generation consoles. We are pushing ahead with development in tandem with the title development team.”

It doesn’t name the Xbox One explicitly but there’s no denying the significance of a line like “next generation consoles” over simply naming the PS4 alone. As of now, no release date has been announced for Deep Down.

It makes sense for it to exclusive in japan given Microsoft’s install base. Not so much in the States.

What is the history of games being exclusive to one console on a by territory basis though? I personally don’t know of any myself…that said, it’s always a possibility that the game could be a timed exclusive…it would make sense especially if Dead Rising 3 will in turn drop on the ps4 at the same time…that way capcom safely straddles the fence on helping to grow their market to to the next gen by catering to the tastes of specific regions while not losing future sales potential by limiting a title to one console….that said, I certainly don’t think this game will be only an exclusive in Japan, it will be an exclusive worldwide most likely, but possibly a timed exclusive instead….bottom line is, if this game is launching simultaneously on ps4 and xbox one in the states, Microsoft and Capcom would most certainly have clarified that by now…the game has generated a decent amount of buzz, and neither capcom nor Microsoft would lose potential sales by not clarifying the issue….i think the statement might have been misspoken and the Panta Rhei engine could be what he was referring to by working on next gen consoles
