Destiny 2: Bungie Explains The Challenges, Lessons Learned From Destiny 1 And More In This 50 Minute Long Video

Those lessons resulted in a better product in Destiny 2, at the very least.

Destiny 2 (6)

The original Destiny‘s launch was a bit of a disaster- the game, long hyped and anticipated, ended up releasing in a less than complete state, with no part of it being up to par. And while the title managed to sell a lot, the fact of the matter is that it ended up disappointing a lot of the people who had bought into it. Those people did not stick around.

Bungie ended up turning the game around with The Taken King, a new expansion for the game they released a year later, which seemed to bring it closer to their vision for it, but on the whole, the original Destiny stood out more as a missed opportunity than anything else.

Apparently, those were all lessons the studio learned and took from the original game as they set out to make Destiny 2– and the result is that Destiny 2 is a far superior product to the original title or its expansions. It’s still a troubled game with issues- but the lessons that Bungie talks about in this brand new 50 minute long video on the tribulations of Destiny appear to be well learned.

We can only hope that they continue steadily improving the franchise along these lines. Destiny 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
