DriveClub: Sony Going Back to the Drawing Board

DriveClub may not be coming out any time soon.

Evolution Studios’ DriveClub was the subject of delay in October, one month before it was to launch on the PlayStation 4, and it was expected to arrive in early 2014. Now, SCE Worldwide Studios executive Scott Rohde has stated to IGN that they’re going back to the drawing board with the game.

“We really don’t want to release a game before it’s ready. And sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we’re on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realize that we’d be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready.

“So, I think that at PlayStation, perhaps more than at other places, we’re willing to kinda eat that [cost], and go back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it. And that’s what’s going on right now with that game.”

What are your thoughts? Will DriveClub release this year or be delayed further? As of now, Rohde has said there will be more details about the game soon though a release date doesn’t seem forthcoming.

that sounds like drive club was a train wreck, going back to the drawing board is a bit different to not shipping it before its ready. Least they’ll still have there game assets although depends what they do with drive club version 2. Year at least now before its out now

    • You are flat out wrong

Read the article, not the headline. They haven’t restarted it, they’re retooling it for VR. Even the author of the original piece had to point that out. It’ll be out this year.

i did read it and it doesnt say that anywhere

    • You are flat out wrong

The author of the piece had to point out they’re polishing it off, not restarting it. Xbots love that low-hanging fruit.

why did it say wed prefer going back to the drawing board then?

    • You are flat out wrong

Because he used the wrong turn of phrase. If you read the actual article, he refers to finishing off the game. The author had to point that out too because of all the Xbot trolling.

ah right fair enough, fun to troll though haha
