In case you’ve been hankering for some 4X (Explore, Expand, Exploit and Exterminate) style gameplay since the olden days of Master of Orion, you’re in luck. Stardock has been busy developing Galactic Civilizations III for the PC and has released the first gameplay video of the same. Check it out above.

You’ll get a look at the new user interface along with the usual hex-based movement and fleet warfare. The game still has no release date but is currently in the Alpha stage. Those who wish to access the game can pre-order the Founder’s Edition here. Others can just wait for the game to hit the PC via Steam.

What are your thoughts on the gameplay trailer above and the return of traditional 4X strategy titles? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and pray that the game doesn’t turn out like Master of Orion 3. Stay tuned for more details.
