Hangar 13’s Mafia 3 has received some new gameplay footage courtesy of Game Informer along with an interview featuring the dev team that explains the new direction for the game. Check it out below.

The gunplay is surprisingly similar to Grand Theft Auto 5 especially with regards to moving into cover and popping out to shoot enemies. It’s no coincidence really – 2K Games is owned by Take Two Interactive, which publishes the GTA series and it’s not a bad idea to have another franchise offer an open world single-player experience while Rockstar focuses on Grand Theft Auto Online.

Overall, Mafia 3 looks pretty good but we’ll have to wait and find out just how “topping the Italian mob and building your own criminal organization” storyline works out in the long run. In development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Mafia 3 is set to release in 2016 so stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
