Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes has had some fairly middling success since releasing late last month – which is understandable when you consider that it’s only the prologue to the main game (The Phantom Pain). According to the latest NPD April 2014 report, Ground Zeroes sold 278,000 units in the US with next gen versions accounting for 204,000 units.

Meanwhile in Japan, Ground Zeroes has managed to sell 340,000 units in its lifetime – again, substantially lower than Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots when it launched for PS3. Digital sales for the game have yet to be revealed according to analyst David Gibson on Twitter.

In other news, Robin Atkin Downes, who voices Kaz, posted a video on Instagram showcasing the studio where VO recordings are happening for The Phantom Pain. Check it out at the link.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be out for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3. It is rumoured to be releasing in early 2015.

Actually that isn’t counting all of Europe and it’s not counting online sales so it would have sold well over a million by now so I hope you have lost hope people like you don’t deserve great games like this

  • You are flat out wrong

Nice! Got more gameplay out of it than most “AAA” MP game in the last three years.

Only the Japanese and NA figures are available. In reality it’s likely closing in on a million, which I would say is a resounding success for Konami’s little experiment. Unfortunately this likely means we’ll see more of this happening in the future, unless it somehow undermines TPP’s sales.

I only bought it because I thought it was an actual game lol my fault for not being in the loop though. Still for a longer than normal demo it is still very impressive minus the auto brightness thing ugh. is it to much to ask for dark to be dark and light to be light I hate it when you go into a dark area and it lightens up a bit or goes darker when you go into light. Like what Skyrim and Crysis does and red red redemtion, and gta5. Only a few games have this annoying feature thankfully. Hopefully all next gen games don’t start implementing it.
