A little while back, we reported on the potential release windows for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in 2015 thus far and told you about the frustration that Snake’s Japanese voice actor is feeling around the lack of game’s release date announcement.

Well it has come to light, through the NeoGAF forums, that Konami employee Tora Shiro is also feeling bothered about not being able to announce the release date. “Not being able to announce a release date is just as annoying on our side. HQ gonna HQ a little longer,” he said on NeoGaf, possibly hinting that the final decision lies with Konami Japan. However he did confessed that he knows more than he is supposed to know, again hinting that the release date has been possibly finalized.

Other GAF users expressed sympathy and understanding for Shiro’s situation, to which he said, “To be fair, it’s no longer waiting on people, it’s more like just coming to an agreement on the details. We operate on a global scale, you know.”

Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain is due sometime this year for the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

You’d rather a bugged out, flawed game like AC Unity than a Masterpiece that’s been ironed out? Good to know.

Impatient bratty kids these days…. just go back to playing Call of Duty, they get released annually so you don’t have to worry your pretty little head.

    • Mini gear

well the game already seems like its already 60x more polished then ac unity. kojima just goes nuts with perfectionism, I like that he takes his time but I still wanna play it in my life time 🙂

First you say you don’t care anymore, then you proceed to tell us you’re gonna pirate it day one. Makes a lot of sense! Bugger off and stop ruining PC gaming for the rest of us honest folks.

Why pirate from a deserving game? Yeah I’ll pirate my fair share of games, but Kojima and Konami deserve money for this game. This ain’t no annual Call of Duty/Assassin’s Creed

It’s guys like you that give PC players a bad name. No wonder consoles usually get the better games then PC.

Honestly if anyone is posting that they are gonna pirate it…. wow. Second it is worth the wait…. its not like your gonna die. I am more excited about this game then any other game I have been interested in and I am always looking day to day for the release.. but finding out the new features on this game is keeping me content.

The only game that loaded up on my PC in a jiffy. Ubisoft learn something out of that.

My issue with this is not that Kojima wants to polish this game to perfection, of that we should all be grateful given the countless games that require day 1 patches or ship full of bugs. However, I feel that Kojima is overstaying his welcome with this hype campaign for the Phantom Pain. First by confusing us with Ground Zeroes and then releasing it for $30 as a glorified demo. And, almost a year later, refusing to tell us when we can expect the game. With 2 and 3, they were hyped for at least 2 years each, however, we always knew that they would be released late 2001 and 2004 respectively. So, the constant hype only served to generate more excitement for those Novembers. Then, with 4, there were so many release windows that keeping track of them all, and being disheartened with each delay, was frustrating. On that note, I completely understand not wanting to have a delay, so they will announce a time frame when appropriate. That would be acceptable except for the fact that this game has been hyped since December 2012. Enough is enough. This should serve as a lesson…don’t get the hype train started too early…however, having said that, this is MGS and looks like one of the greatest games in the series’ long run, so he can get away with it, I supposed. Day 1 PS4 buy for me despite the annoying, exhausting, and infuriating hype campaign.

In my opinion, the hype shouldn’t have really started for The Phantom Pain until after GZ’s release. Like the following E3. Seeing TPP trailers almost a year before GZ even released was going too far. Fooling us all into believing that it was almost finished and that GZ was the appetizer it was promised and sold to be. 16+ months from the main dishes release is not an appetizer. It makes me wonder if they needed more revenue for the game’s (presumably) massive budget. And, GZ’s should have been no more than $15 regardless of platform. Just my opinion. I respect Kojima more than any other game developer, but I just can’t help but feel that he’s testing my patience.

This will be the best game ever.

  • Maybe, internally, they have stated some release dates, but then they delayed the game. The advantage is that it is not made publicly, therefore we don’t get disappointed.
I want this game so bad, and I know it will not disappoint me. I hope it has a base management tool like Peace Walker. I had hundreds of hours of pure fun (and frustration on boss battles).

It really should have a release date by now , I have 2 buddies that cancelled the preorder last week thinking it just isnt coming out and I couldn’t convince them other wise. I am a bit irritated my self , id like to be playing this game before may …
