Xbox One PS4

E3 is almost here, and you know what that means- it means loads of new game announcements by all major players in the industry, and a fresh wave of software (and hopefully hardware) to look forward to. E3 has traditionally been the most exciting time of the year – remember last year’s major E3 announcements, which included The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy 7 Remake? – and this year promises to be no different.

The question of course is, exactly what is it that we can look forward to seeing at E3 this year- especially from the major console holders? Nintendo, of course, is sitting out, opting to show The Legend of Zelda, and The Legend of Zelda only. But what about Microsoft and Sony? Rumors of upgraded consoles aside, what exactly are they planning on showing at E3?

Their official lineup as listed on the official E3 website may give us some clues to that. The E3 website usually masks the games it lists, listing them only by genre and platform, probably in an attempt to ensure that no game gets prematurely leaked- but a look at what Sony and Microsoft are apparently planning still reveals some rather interesting details.

Okay, so let’s look at this properly. First, let’s deal with the accessories- for Sony, it is evident that this may be the PlayStation VR, as well as maybe Move controllers. Microsoft are, alternately, probably going to show off the HoloLens, and some more Oculus Rift functionality. It has also been rumored that they will have yet another new controller to unveil at E3, like the Xbox Elite Controller last year.

The interesting question here is, do console revisions count as ‘accessories’? Because if so, then the ‘accessories’ listed above may just be referring to the rumored PS4K and Xbox One Elite/Xbox One Slim.

The actual games list is far harder to parse- it is to be remembered that Microsoft and Sony not only show off their own titles, but also showcase games from their third party partners, AAA and indie, so those games listed above could be just about anything- they could be referring to in house titles, or they could be referring to third party games and indie partnerships. Still, it is at the very least evident that both companies plan to showcase a full, varied range of titles- something that is doubtless appreciated by most people.

E3 2016 begins next month.

more boring psvr showings from sony.im sure they will reveal ps4 neo lets just hope the conference isnt as bad as that psx was.

ms has me the most excited we have no clue what they are going to do we already know what sony is going to show.

    • kee1haul

Neo reveal will be tokyo game show. PSX was a plain disaster but still IGN said it was ‘hit after hit after hit’.

    • Hvd

ign caves to pressure from sony thats why they gave uncharted 4 a 8.8 then changed it at the end to a 9.0/that cavend to sony .if the ps4 neo isnt revealed at e3 there is no point for sony to even be there.

    • Nathan Anderson

Rofl if sony doesn’t show a new system they shouldn’t be there? You obviously don’t know how gaming schedules work. With the ps4 release being 3 years ago the fact that they are releasing an upgrade is a plus, and not something they have to give. Gamers have become demanding and ignorant. The playstation 4 doesn’t even have that great of a games lineup and you want a new ps4 upgrade? How about getting some games on the board, like what usually happens at e3. If they don’t show an upgraded system, it isn’t going to happen this year. The only reason people want a new system so bad is so they can afford the ps4 system that currently exists.

    • Hybrid Gamer Master Race

PS4 release was only 2.5 years ago. In November it will be 3 years old.

    • RAULxPUDD

PS4 isnt 3 years old and even if it was thats still far too early to release a substantial upgrade. You are splitting your consumer base. Sony will learn the hard way, they always do. They’ll try and play low sales and losses off all cool but the annual reports dont lie. PSVR will blast off hot and then fizzle out as will this PSNEO. Slim consoles yes, substantially more powerful PS4 or XB1 will tick alot of consumers off and they will likely go NX out of Spite lol.

    • Mr Xrat

The only people who say that are Xbox fanboys in denial that PSX alone was better than MS’ E3.

Tell Jamie Moron he’s a loser, and to start a petition for the VR he so obviously wants.

    • kee1haul

      VR lol

    • kma99

Psx was garbage and everyone knows it. Whe. The head of sony comes out and admits its just a showcase of indies that speaks volumes.

    • Counterproductive

      Wow. Put the kool-aid down.

    • Hvd

more like i need cocaine just to stay wake through sony’s conferences…lol

    • Hans Olo

I agree, and I hope (fingers crossed) that they show some sort of next gen up gradable xbox. People think they are going to show an xbox one slim and a new xbox Two……….I think They may show an Xbox 2 and an accessory to attach to the current Xbox one to make the graphics better………something to attach on the back of it, like the 360 did with the hard drives.

  • kee1haul

Apparently Microsoft are showing a role playing game for Playstation platforms.

  • YaCoVv

    PSP is back?

    • Hans Olo

I know right? I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the best E3 yet. I am hoping MS and Sony show off new consoles………Ill buy em both !

  • Jimmy DoneGood

Looking forward to recore halo wars 2 scalebound cuphead below gears 4 and my most excited title, Crackdown 3.

    • Mr Xrat

So, another MS conference stuffed with retreads because they announced those games too early. “Too many games so we had to delay them to 2016” Phil said. Where are they?
