Xbox division head Phil Spencer isn’t shy about the excellence of Sony’s Uncharted franchise. Speaking to Eurogamer, he believes that the current timed exclusivity of Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of the Tomb Raider for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will help the former to compete with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on the PS4 next year.
When asked whether this was the case, Spencer replied, “Totally. I’m a big fan of Uncharted and I wish we had an action adventure game of that ilk. We’ve started some, and we’ve looked at them. But we don’t have one today of that quality. This is an opportunity.”
Rise of the Tomb Raider was first revealed during Microsoft’s E3 press conference earlier this year and it was later announced at Gamescom that the game would be exclusive to Xbox One and Xbox 360. Spencer later clarified that the game is only an exclusive on Xbox for a fixed duration. When it will come to PC and PS4/PS3 is any one’s guess though.
