In 2005 a classic was revealed to the world. An experience unmatched by any game till date. Shadows of the Colossus is easily one of those titles  that set a benchmark for future games to come. I was thrilled to no end when the HD collection of two of the best games was announced last year.
Recently some screenshots of the HD collection were revealed so we decided to compare it with the original PlayStation 2 version and the results as one might put it are stunning.

Note: Please use the back-next buttons to navigate through the images. Apologies for our ancient gallery system, the new one will be better. The image below is from the PS2  version and the one above is from the PS3 version.

  • I honestly enjoy looking at the PS2 version more.

  • doesn’t look like a super-upgrade or anything, but all that does not matter. what matters is that it is still ps2’s finest hour & will be relived once again on ps3. here’s to cannot wait! 🙂

  • i honestly find it hard to notice a significant difference, i think HD remakes are good for developers and sony to cash in a bit more; but i think it would be better to completely remake the games with better graphics- a majority of HD remakes have been disappointing to say the least so far…

  • jk

Yeah, PS2 version seems to work better for the game (based on the screenshots). The haziness seems crucial to these lumbering colossi.

  • Do i see different screenshots? The PS3 Version looks fantastic for a HD Version!

  • wow, ps2 looks better, the only thing that will change will be the framerate, and i honestly think that it’s better with slowdown(you know, when the colossi hit the ground or destroy something big and everything’s shaking and filled with dust ,etc, etc…) , I mean somehow it adds up to the experience

  • I agree with the comments about the hazzines adding atmosphere but I really like how crisp the hd version is 🙂 I’m excited to see the framerate upgrade too 🙂
