Managing director for PlayStation in the UK and Ireland Fergal Gara has announced his resignation from the company. He will be replaced by Warwick Light, general manager of PlayStation in East Europe and the Nordics.

Gara stated that, “I have had a fantastic time leading the PlayStation business in the UK and Ireland over the past four years. I am very grateful for having had this opportunity and I want to thank my team who have been amazing and, of course, Jim [Ryan], for his support along with the wider PlayStation family who have helped make this period as successful as it has been.”

Joining the role in September 2011, Gara has been with the company for almost four years and oversaw both the PS3’s peak in the industry and the rise of the PS4 in the UK. He will be leaving Sony to pursue a “new professional venture” though it isn’t known if this will be within the games industry.

I wonder if he is really leaving due to the failure of the PS4 not being being able to do 1080p 60 FPS even in their own exclusives.

Xbox fanboys really want Fergal Gara to join Microsoft since the PS4 became such a success and Xbox One failed under Don Mattrick, and continues to fail under Phil Spencer.
