The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Footage On Conan Was Not Running On Xbox One, No Flying Mounts And More

CD Projekt RED clarifies footage shown in Conan O’ Brien’s review.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is nearly upon us and if you’ve been paying attention to Conan O’ Brien, the man himself had a chance to review the game. Interestingly, the Xbox One copy was showcased in the intro of the video, leading many to believe that the gameplay footage was from the X1 version.

Senior Games Designer at CD Projekt RED Damien Monnier clarified on Twitter that the footage was, “PC but an old build (this was recorded a while ago).” No, we don’t get it either but that’s what it was.

Some other details for The Witcher 3 have been revealed, including whether there would be a flying mount of some sort. Community and website coordinator Marcin Momot stated that, “No flying. Sorry.” Level designer Miles Tost also dispelled any notion as to the Xbox One version not looking as good as the other versions. “No, of course not. It looks and runs as great as the other platforms do.”

By the way, that ability that Ciri showcased in the Rage and Steel trailer? CD Projekt RED’s Michal Janczewski says on the forums that, “Yes, it’s one of her skills,” indicating that players will be able to use it.

Thoughts on all this? Let us know in the comments. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out on May 19th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

So that’s why it was suspiciously at 60FPS

and Playstation fanboys couldn’t call it out because the human eye can’t see past 30FPS

    • Katarsius

Are you serious? Do our eyes have a fps limit? You’ve played games for far too long now.

    • jmmy

eyes do kind of have a FPS limit. We only see still images
like any video or game, but it is nowhere near 30 fps though.

    • TheGameGuru

      Eyes don’t seen in frames.

Your eyes can technically “see” 100000s of frames per second. It’s all on how your brain comprehends motion.

    • Admirateur

his brain has a fps limit

    • PeregrineX7

What are you talking about? The human eye can see FAR more than 30fps. Most eyes can see above 200 fps, so EYE don’t know what the heck you are talking about

    • Till

@op: You just sound like a fanboy yourself when you talk like that.

Fact: 24 fps is the lowest fps a human eye *can* watch without detecting gaps. With motion blur you can get the same effect you see in movies.
Fact: The human eye *can* detect up to 300 fps! That doesn’t mean everyone does.

    • samuel spowart

you forget that movies are linear so when you capture film you capture motion blur

adding motion blur to a game does not give you the same result because how can the game know that you are about to spin the camera in the other direction suddenly? – one thing that might help the in motion blur added to console games not look so crap is how controllers work (look here for a detailed explanation of how controller analogue sticks and mice work: )

as for the human eye FPS limit there is no known limit at this time (lets not forget you eye does not even use frames it uses a constant stream of visual data not individual images) airforce pilots have been able to tell what a plane is after having an image of that plane flashed in front of them for 1/300th of a second (or thereabouts) but that was a single image flashed for a very short amount of time and they could tell what plane they had been shown

as for the “but not everyone can see 300fps” we are actually running into diminishing returns – the more you put in the less you get out the difference between 60 and 120fps is about the same as 30 and 60 fps in order to get the same difference again we would need 240fps and then 480fps you can tell the difference if you use one and then go back to the other but the difference becomes less noticeable the more frames you pump into it

and if you cannot see 300fps i would advise seeing a doctor you might have some neurological condition (not a joke there are actual neurological conditions where you would… not get a visual update constantly but once every few MS i know there is a woman somewhere in america who has it – that was simplified btw someone might put it into more technical speak for me)

    • XbotMK1

Microsoft got caught lying again so he and every other Microsoft fan boy are trying to deflect it. This is actually the second time Microsoft got caught lying about the Witcher 3 on Xbox One. Pay no mind to the completely dumb things he says.

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

Witcher 3 is being released for Linux, John Derp.

How could I be a MS fanboy when I won’t be playing it on a MS platform at all and made fun of all console peasants, like you.

Oh wait, you are too stupid to know when you are being made fun of like all the rest :^)

    • Buddydudeguy

don’t be stupid. Video games =/= video. I’m so sick of morons talking about fps in this context. 24 fps in most video games is very noticeable and a boderline slide show yet it’s what movies and television run at. Cuz…THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT ANIMALS.

    • Jason Mounce

How can humans see past 30FPS when there’s only 20 of us on the planet?

    • David Xan

Ok you can all stfu about 30 fps vs 60 fps. Here’s a video of Witcher 3 PS4 vs PC. The first half of the video is the PS4 version running at 30 fps and the second half is PC running at 60 fps. Watch about a minute of each you can CLEARLY see the difference in FPS.

    • Jason Mounce

Nice spam-post. Way to miss the joke by a longshot. Pull that thick stick out from yer nethermost regions, mate.

    • Jessika S.

I think you read that somewhere but that’s wrong it’s actually a myth.
The limit of most monitors is 60 fps, the brain can perceive many more than that. Eyes don’t see in frame rates so applying a number to it is meaningless because that’s not how eyes work.

      Google it….

    • GotNews4Ya

Uhm… what does that got to do with Playstation Fan Boys? PS4 / XB1 both run at 30 fps.. You would be talking about PC fan boys if you are trying to say FPS doesn’t matter..

    • Jecht_Sin

It’s much more complex than that..

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

You are right. PS4 owners can’t see over 24FPS. My mistake.

      I’ll correct it now

    • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

Bloodborne is an incredible game, its clear its success has bothered you. LOL

    • oo7PorscheMGS

Get a life, ps4 is a small electronic box…you want a boxing match with it? So much anger…so pathetic.

I would like to know where you got your information….. It is all to easy to “see” the difference and feel it as well when going from 30-60-120+fps!

It is supposed to be that humans can “barely” perceive the frame differences past 60……, but anyone that has played on a good PC in the last couple of years and have a 120+hz monitor there is a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.

If people would step away from the hateriade and stop with the negativity, things would be much easier to swallow and people would hopefully be happier.

    • andy

Holy crap, just forget it. You just proved what an utter moron you are. Its all down hill
from here with every word you type from now on ^_^

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

Console peasants can’t recognise when they are being made fun of.

I didn’t think you could get any stupider, but here you are :^)

    • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

Why dont you shut up, you’re not making PC elitists look any smarter either.

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

You always look like a moron so you don’t even have to try make Sony shills look stupider. You already hit rock bottom. I’m surprised you don’t forget how to breathe

    • oo7PorscheMGS

Calling people peasants lol, what an awesome dude! Get real, go outside and stfu, youre only making a fool of yourself.

You can’t be that dumb… The human eye can see 60fps…

    • tplarkin7

At 30 fps, you can’t read text moving sideways. At 60 fps you can. It’s a fundamental difference.

    • oo7PorscheMGS

Does this guy ever stop with his kiddie fanboy war …jeez…

    • GOW

Its people like you who has nothing to do and come here and start a war against Consoles and PC.. What a pathetic loser you are.. Such a sad human being I must say.. God bless you..

    • Cyberats

Gaps vs. Action Speed, you are comparing apples to oranges.
60fps would cover without gaps any action speed we want portrayed. While 30fps covers the normal. Multiple icon tracking not withstanding as they slow down fps.
Consoles are Dead, switch to PC gaming.

    • BDK

I can see past 30 fps just fine and so can you.

    • Josh Morland
    • BE4TheBigBang

The human eye doesn’t see in frames. We rather see in motion. This is why we actually can see the difference between 60 fps vs the half of that which is 30 fps. Saying people can’t see the difference is nothing but denial or just not understanding the mechanics behind it.

  • Stereotypical_White_Fella

People are already streaming XB1 version, and it looks amazing, looks just like PC gameplay i’ve seen. So that’s why they haven’t shown it off, because it basically looks the same on all platforms.

    • Dynasty2021

      No it doesn’t.

    • TheGameGuru

Actually it does. Even CDPR said “ultra” on PC is the same as the console versions.

    • ace-meza

      are you retarded?

I think not….. There’s much more to the PC.

Just sad to see that there was such a downgrade in fidelity from E3 last year to today.

  • Sun Streaker

It’s no different when Sony borrows PC footage and slaps on their logo/gamepad inputs, the PC and PS4 version are never meant to look the same and GTA V proves that, if they look the same then there’s parity at foot and Sony wouldn’t be so innocent then.

yeah at the end of the day it sucks that MS pulled this but it also sucks that we’re not seeing CDPR showing the PC footage completely maxed out to show the night/day differences.

    • Dynasty2021

Whats annoying me is PC users being forced to use the console controllers.

I know they’ve said the PC controls aren’t optimized yet but…come on! This is a PC series from a PC dev.

I really, REALLY worry what else they’ve gimped other than graphics and controls when they’ve CLEARLY made this for consoles first.

***k sake, so sick of consoles ruining gaming on PC.

    • Jecht_Sin

Cry me moar. Controllers are good for you. Just buy one and play the games with it. Your back and your wrists will be grateful.

  • Starman

All of you , including G-BLOT for putting this stupid article up … “SOUND LIKE A BUNCH OF FANBOYS..just shut the FUNK UP and the the game ..

  • MattS71

Xbox One is the new Wii…….

  • ImOnaDrugCalledSheen

More lies and deception, just Microsoft being Microsoft as usual.

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

      Just like Sony :^)

  • zainfazal3000

if it’s the PC version, just say it’s the PC version I mean jeez.

  • Buddydudeguy

um…if it “looks and runs as great as the other platforms do.” we’re in for a let down and they did in fact gimp it just so it will run on potatos. My understanding is it will potentially look and run better on PC, yet he goes and says this?
