After promising the function back in October, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has announced that screenshot functionality will be coming to the Xbox One in early 2015.

Speaking on Xbox Wire, Spencer said that, “Screenshots are coming early this year. I know it has been a question for quite a while. We delivered themes, and I think a natural add-on to themes are screenshots.

“Giving people more ability to share their great gaming moments on the platform – whether it’s just as a screenshot, as their background, or through many of the different social networks that we allow people to share their content through is a long-term commitment that we have”

The next software update for the console will present increased transparency for tiles and improved TV functionality. What are your thoughts on screenshots heading to the Xbox One? Let us know your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned for more information on when it finally arrives.

That’s a feature I’ll never understand. Obviously being able to record video is cool but I record everything I play via capture device anyways however I still use it for cool small moments to share with friends on the consoles.

Screen shots on the other hand…I see no purpose to them. Yes I admire great visuals but I dont get it.

I just started 7 weeks ago and I have gotten 2 checks for a total of $12,000…I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life.

I hear u man. While the transparent tiles are cool, I’ll just keep using Achievements for backgrounds. I do think alot of people requested pics tho.

They said it was the #1 request, at least for a while. Its just an odd feature to have as the number 1

Yup……but we need voice messaging! I can’t talk tho, cuz I never vote lol. Still, I thought about how Microsoft and Phil, Aaron and these guys are listening to our requests. That’s ill man. Xbox 1 is kinda like Microsoft’s, and our system together. I don’t remember anything like this before. Heard it’s because they run Virtual Machines and use Azure, that they can iterate on things so fast. Like a transformer that evolves immediately. Luv this console
