The Xbox One may soon be receiving a feature that allows Xbox Live Gold users to download games and play them for free within a limited 24 hour period.

This feature was spotted by Reddit users on the Xbox One beta last night in the US, as they noticed that Max: The Curse of the Brotherhood was available as a free download. It was listed in the Games With Gold section with a “Free Play Day with Gold” label. This could indicate that the feature will indeed only be available to Xbox Live Gold members since Games With Gold is bundled with the subscription service.

Interestingly, the official Xbox Live Twitter is surprised with the feature. However, it confirmed that there would be an official announcement shortly.

What are your thoughts on this new feature, especially since Games With Gold already offers two free games every month? Will it be for more recent titles? We’ll find out in the coming months.
