Zombie Studios’ Daylight Targeting 1080p/60fps on PS4, No Plans for Xbox One Release

Studio director Jared Gerritzen invites us to be afraid but only on the PS4 and PC.

64. Daylight

Zombie Studios’ Daylight is a literal collection of firsts. It’ll be the studio’s first psychological horror game (no, Saw doesn’t count) and it will be one of first few games using Unreal Engine 4 to scare the living daylights out of us (get it?). With that in mind, will it deliver in the visual department and run at 1080p resolution and 60 FPS on the PlayStation 4?

We got in touch with Studio Director Jared Gerritzen and posed the same question. “Its our target, but 1080p is our first priority. Being the first UE4 game on the first cycle of the PlayStation 4 doesn’t give us the leeway that the last generation has with lesser known tech, some parts will have to have balance.”

As for whether Daylight will ever release for the Xbox One under the ID@Xbox banner – especially since indie games under the programme will begin rolling out in March – Gerritzen says, “Currently we have no plans to put Daylight onto platforms other than PlayStation 4 and the PC.”

Daylight will be out on April 8th for PC and PS4. Stay tuned for more details and let us know what you think of the game thus far.

  • kevin

That cool skip a console , I’ll be sure to tell those in my social media circle not to make plans to get this games cause its just not worth the money.

    • Goodgrief

Damn, I’m sure they’ll really miss the sales of everyone in YOUR social media circle.

    • kevin

No matter the dollar amount every little bit contributes to the big picture .So yes they will miss it and I will make sure of it . word of mouth the greatest consumer tool.

    • John Nemesh

you are a tool. go away troll

    • kevin

Why don’t you Piss off, their allowed to skip my prefered console and you folks expect me to support them Thur other means.

    • TristanPR77

Translation: I will talk trash this game because it will not be available on xbone.

    • Mikeherp Derp

Can’t you play it on PC? It’s an indie game.

    • Goodacre

maybe you should ask MS why it’s hamstringing indie developers into a lame parity clause in the first place. if they get rid of that maybe you’ll see more games on your console.

    • Blue Gum
    • Goodgrief

I hope you do the same for titanfall seeing that respawn did the exact same thing as these devs. You will won’t you? Seeing that you are a champion for equality. Won’t you kevin?

Now, go forth kevin, go, and spread the bad word of titanfall and those evil devs that decided to skip the ps4. Go kevin, run like the wind lad.

    • kevin

Can’t do that cause Titanfall is on my preferred console, I only go forth when my prefered console is skip.

    • Adam Ismail

the epitome of xbox-fanboy … sad

    • kevin

Yet one of many on both sides of this console . So am good.

    • Gamez Rule
    • kevin

Not butthurt just makes sense to not support if not on my console.

    • Gamez Rule

You can’t support it on your console as it’s not coming out on your Xbone ☺

PC can play it, as well as PS4, so that will have enough support anyway☺

    • Ippoletta

Stop crying and play it on PC damn. they’re going to port the PC version to Xbox one eventually. trust me, if they dont it’s because sony paid them off. surprisingly cause they’re broker than a joke.

    • Ippoletta

The fat guy gets eaten 🙂

    • Ippoletta

Sony paid them off. nobody’s skiping anything on Xbox just because. they know indie games sell a ton on Xbox. Minecraft, Castle crashers, trials, etc…

  • datdude

If you’re an indie dev, and you’re looking at
sales figures that put the ps4 at 6 million sold and the xbone at 3.5
million sold, with the ps4 routinely selling more copies of games
available on both systems and being easier to develop for AND the
more powerful system, it’s a complete no brainer. If you only want to
focus on one console first (or only), that console should be the ps4.

    • Mikeherp Derp

Also last I checked PS4 was far more indie friendly, although MS is trying to catch up with their own indie program.

    • Goodacre

except for the horrible parity clause that is driving away developers

    • Ippoletta

Lol Microsoft’s always been indie friendly. the 360 says hello. sony rid the coattails on Microsoft indie success and now they act like they are all indie friendly.

they’ve got over 200 indie devs signed up for ID at Xbox. we aren’t worried about this game. we’ll get plenty more indie horrors. and not to mention they’ll look good with DirectX12. this fool will change his mind, unless he’s paid under contract not to release on the Xbox One. that is obviously the best guess cause no indie dev is restricting anything unless they were paid to.

  • Steph

Been watching this title for a bit and it looks pretty good, if priced right I’ll definitely get for my ps4.

  • Psionicinversion

hmmm looks good, theres a few survival horror games coming out this year then, this cant remember what another indie game is called and Alien isolation

  • BroJ

So many games on PS4. So little time to play them all.

  • You are flat out wrong

In b4 Xbot whining about resolution.
