As unlikely as it seemed, the rumors are true: Lana Del Rey is the singer for 007 First Light’s title track. The official lyric video is available, and it’s called, unsurprisingly, “First Light.” It’s quite fitting, especially since her song “24” infamously didn’t make it into the franchise’s last film, Spectre.
Of course, IO Interactive didn’t stop there as it also tapped David Arnold to write the track. Arnold’s credits include Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
007 First Light drops on May 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version arriving sometime this Summer. Unlike the films, this is an original story focused on Bond’s origins and stars a younger version of the hero. Joining MI6, he sets out to earn 00 status, taking on villains like Bawma (played by Lenny Kravitz) and the mysterious 009.
While fans will see plenty of his swagger and bravado, this version of Bond is more impulsive and rebellious but also less jaded. He won’t fully become the iconic legend in all of his glory, since IOI isn’t focused on “resolving” his character. However, the effects of his attitude on MI6 and various characters will become apparent. Stay tuned for more details on the title, though beware of spoilers, since the ending was accidentally leaked by the Indonesian Ratings Board.
