GOTHIC

Piranha Bytes’ 2001 RPG Gothic might not be a genre giant, but it’s certainly amassed a following for itself over the years. It clearly has its fair share of fans, and for good reason- but as good as the game was back when it first launched, even back then, one aspect of the experience that drew some criticism was its controls. Not only is the game often slow to read inputs, resulting in it feeling unresponsive, its control scheme also feels needlessly complex, with simple actions requiring bafflingly obtuse inputs that the game does a horrible job of providing tutorials for. THQ Nordic has a full remake of Gothic in development, so hopefully we’ll see some improvements with that.
