No list of modern open world games would be complete without Minecraft. Not only does it randomly generate huge open worlds each and every time you play, but the whole point of Minecraft is also to interface with the world. Whilst some continue to be put off by Minecraft's lack of clear direction, it is still proving to be one of the most popular open world games ever made.
