10 Bland Open World Games

Some open world titles are chock-full of fun, exciting things to do. However, these games were either too dull or insultingly bad with their worlds.

Dying Light

Another example of a launch title’s open world feeling fairly dull was Harran in Dying Light. Yes, it had its share of NPCs and random survivors, not to mention airdrops, but the base story was pretty forgettable as were many of the major characters. Even combat with the Infected and running from Volatiles at night, cool as it may have been initially, started to wear thin. Fortunately, Techland took several measures to address this, adding dozens of new weapons, new weapon rarity levels (including new fantasy weapons), overhauled Quarantine Zones, parkour challenges with leaderboard support and much more. It even added a new Legend system for post-game leveling, Bounties, firearms, new NPC models and much more along with The Following expansion, not to mention all of the limited time events and new modes.
