Poor availability
Sony went for an ambitious simultaneous worldwide launch with the PS3, but it wound up doing more harm than good. The issue came in poor availability at launch, with the diodes needed for the system's blu-ray drive being in surprisingly short supply. It even got to the point where many stores only had six PS3 units, leaving many people disappointed at launch. The PS4 will deserve better.
