SAN FRANCISCO RUINS (HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST)
Horizon Forbidden West sees Aloy moving ever westward throughout her journey, and in the final hours of the game, she finds herself in the ruins of San Francisco- and it is magnificent. There’s just something about the desolate beauty of the once-gleaming city’s overgrown and crumbling remains, but of course, what really sells it is that the difficulty is cranked up in this area. You’ve got a lot more machines to contend with, most of them of a far more threatening variety than in earlier areas, with the likes of Slitherfangs, Slaughterspines, Snapmaws, and much more. It’s an area that begs to be explored, and while you’re doing it, you never quite feel like you’re entirely safe.
