Obviously, what makes a game memorable is the gameplay, how innovative it is, how polished it is, what its storyline is and ultimately, how much fun it is. But good writing is also important for a game. Bad writing can leave a bad taste in your mouth, with bad dialogues such as “We need to blow his brains outta his ass!” and mistranslations such as “All your base are belong to us” clearly ruining the effect and the impact of the game and its plot.

But some quotes are just so well written, just so memorable, just so iconic that you remember them for a lifetime, even if you only hear or read it once throughout your playthrough. This list is a tribute to such quotes, and below, we have listen 10 such popular lines in video games which we feel are some of the most iconic and memorable ones.

Remember, this list will not include paragraph long quotes, only one liners.

So enjoy the list and leave us your feedback via your comments below!

“I am what the Gods have made me!”- Kratos, God of War II

Who doesn’t remember this quote? Everyone who’s played God of War II remembers this awesome cutscene, where Kratos walks up to Lakhesis’ statue, who says to him that he will never find peace because of the monster he has become. In a fit of fury, he destroys her statue (we expect nothing less of him), shouting “I am what the Gods have made me!”

“Thank you, Mario! But our princess is in another castle!”- Toad, Super Mario Bros.

Come on, I just beat Bowser, crossed so many difficult levels and put my ass on the line to save Princess Peach, and all I get is a thank you from Toad and the knowledge that she’s in a different freaking castle. What the hell is that all about?

In all seriousness, though, this single quote is a great part of my childhood, as must be the case with many of you. If this isn’t memorable, I don’t know what is.

“I feel asleep!”- Guard, Metal Gear

This is another funny and extremely popular typo. The guard standing by the truck was originally supposed to say “I fell asleep!”, which became “I feel asleep!” And then you go in front of him, and he starts shooting you like crazy. And you’re like- “You son of a bitch, you lied to me, you didn’t feel asleep!” A mistake as this line might be, it’s still extremely memorable, and with stay with me for a long time. Don’t tell me you still don’t get a kick out of it.
