Bullet Time
You can see a mild slow motion effect coming into play at the later points of the trailer, and it looks like a manually activated player ability rather than an automatic graphical gimmick. You’d be forgiven for not noticing it, as it’s pretty subtle; almost too subtle to actually seem particularly useful. Either way, it will be cool to see how bullet time effects look with next gen graphics technology.
Cool Set Pieces
Set pieces are a pretty standard component of the modern shooter, but it’ll be interesting to see what kind of makeover they receive in the next generation of hardware. For now we have a pretty cool section in the trailer that involves the hero firing a pistol in one hand whilst hanging onto a helicopter with the other. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Transforming Weapons
The railgun weapon used throughout the Shadow Fall trailer wasn’t the most inspired of guns, also sporting a suspiciously weak amount of recoil. That said, it also transformed into a long range rifle at one point, the scope just sliding into place when required. I don’t know if these alternate firing modes will be on all guns, but it would be pretty cool if that was the case.
