The Thing 2
While The Thing wasn’t necessarily the most critically acclaimed survival horror of all time, it still reviewed decently well and sold over one million units. A sequel was in the works and would feature “dynamic infection” among other interesting (and grotesque) mechanics. While concept art and demos were created, the project was canceled in October 2003 after Computer Artworks went into receivership. Oddly enough, production and creative manager Alan Bunker said that the reasons for the studio’s closure were “more far reaching than simply saying ‘publishers not paying'” though an explicit reason was never provided.
