Fez 2
Seven years later, the cancellation of Fez 2 still remains controversial. Following its massive critical and, at the time, commercial success, the sequel would be announced in June 2013. It seemed like a surefire hit…until creator Phil Fish got involved in an online tiff a month later. Following several controversial remarks which drew ire all around, he canceled Fez 2 and announced his departure from the industry. Fish said that the cancellation wasn’t “the result of any one thing but the end of a long, bloody campaign”. Polytron would subsequently confirm the cancellation, being taken aback itself, and apologized to fans. While Fish and Polytron would go on to do other things – the former working with Kokoromi to release SuperHyperCube for PlayStation VR in 2016 – Fez 2 remains lost to time.
