TACKED ON RPG MECHANICS

Sony first party games have – for the most part – followed a few trends this generation- one of those is introducing and implementing RPG mechanics. And while the likes of Horizon: Zero Dawn and Spider-Man implemented light RPG mechanics quite successfully, God of War was much less successful. The whole loop of getting better loot and grinding to level of Kratos, Atreus, and their gear felt a bit tacked on, because honestly, it wasn’t nearly as effective and essential to the experience as it needed to be. We like the idea, for sure, so were hoping that the developers will take the idea further and make it a much more integral part of the gameplay with future instalments.
