10 Things We Want To See Battlefield In 4

Vehicles in Campaign

Why, oh why were we only allowed to fire the weapons in that cool looking jet mission? In fact, of all the vehicle sections in BF3’s divisive campaign, only one of them actually allowed you to drive said vehicle, and that mission was criminally short. Even the Bad Company series offered better vehicular elements in the campaign, and the single player of those games certainly wasn’t designed to be a centre piece.

Better Map Variety

Middle Eastern landscapes and European cities are out DICE, so deal with it. Even in comparison to Bad Company 2, BF3 saw a serious decline in map variety. Gone were the snowy peaks, dense forests and debris-filled deserts. Replacing them were metro tunnels and lots of city-scapes. Let’s just hope BF4 gets some more innovation in the map department.

Being Able to Play Online at Launch

And there I thought more servers were loading, but no, that’s it

Few games ever get the whole online thing right on the initial launch week, but BF3 was one of the worst I’d seen. The servers were just completely gone, the quick match function failed to work, server lists were patchy at best; it was all just a bit slap-dash. Whilst problems such as this often get sorted very quickly, it would be nice if Battlefield 4 could hit the ground running.

A Proper Hardcore Mode

Yeah, BF3 claims to have a hardcore mode, but it’s nothing on the hardcore shenanigans we saw in Bad Company 2. The Mini-map, spotting and the usual visual aids are still present, and the only major difference seems to be slightly increased damage across the board. I get games need to stay accessible, but difficulty is the whole point of hardcore mode, so let’s hope it stays… hardcore in BF4.
