DEAD SPACE 3
Dead Space 3 killed one of the greatest survival horror franchises of all time. Yes, the series is now on the road to recovery in the wake of Motive Studio’s excellent remake of the original game, but the damage that Dead Space 3 did will never be forgotten, not just because it destroyed the series, but also because it also contributed to the eventual closure of the hugely talented team at Visceral Games. Not only did EA’s belief at the time that there was no real market for pure horror games out there lead to a disappointingly action-focused shooter experience, it also led to co-op being shoehorned into the experience. And while Dead Space 3’s co-op wasn’t totally incapable of delivering enjoyment in small doses, it did completely miss the point in terms of what fans wanted to see from a Dead Space game.
