Cross gen releases can be a good thing, but these games shouldn't have gone down that route.

Watch_Dogs – Xbox 360/PS3

Watch Dogs Complete Edition

Watch_Dogs wowed players with its impressive first showing, and it was supposed to represent the graphical leap that the new generation of consoles was bringing. But when the game was released in 2013, it felt like a faint shadow of what was originally promised. And while there were plenty of other reasons for that graphical downgrade, the decision to release the game on both the PS3/Xbox 360 and PS4/Xbox One had a lot to do with these issues. You see if a developer has to make a game for two entirely different platforms – it has to essentially be developed for the weaker hardware first and then upgraded for the new hardware accordingly

As such, many of the graphical features promised with the original reveal were absent in the final release. But even discounting that, Watch_Dogs on PS3 and Xbox 360 suffered from blurry resolution and inconsistent frame rate which further worsens the experience. Couple that with the previously discussed knock-on effects of cross-gen development on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the same game, and Watch_Dogs becomes a sadly underwhelming experience on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
