FIFA 14 – PS2
Annual sports releases such as the likes of FIFA have a reputation for releasing on as many platforms as possible, and FIFA 14 was released simultaneously on the PS2, PS3, and PS4. And as you can already imagine, the PS2 version was pretty different from the PS3 and PS4 versions. It’s an entirely different game, built on a different engine than its next-gen counterparts which results in a lot of disparity between gameplay elements. FIFA 14 on the PS2 features the same rudimentary movement mechanics as its predecessors, while the PS3 and PS4 versions featured new momentum-based sprinting among other features which made for a smoother and more realistic experience. Sure, there’s a distinct charm to FIFA 14’s PS2 version that some fans really adore – but there’s little argument that it is lacking in many aspects.
Fun fact: FIFA 14 was one of the last games to be released for the PS2.
