Sangenjaya, Shinjuku and More – Persona 5

Persona 5

Much like Kamurocho and Kabuki-cho in Yakuza, Persona 5’s Yongen-Jaya is based off of Sangenjaya in Setagaya, which has the largest population in all of Tokyo’s special wards. As such, the similarities are noticeable, whether you’re walking through the backstreets to the laundromats (right down to the yellow washing machines) to the different signs and turns on streets. Then you have other locations like the fishing pond near Ichigaya Station in east Shinjuku with its numerous yellow boxes that people can sit and fish from. Obviously some stores are different – like the 109Men’s in Shibuya Underground Walkway being called 105Men’s in Persona 5 – but the attention to detail and depth is prevalent throughout.
